Hello! I’m Megan!

MSW, LSW

Megan Tierney is a Licensed Social Worker in New Jersey and Pennsylvania who received her Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University. Megan has experience working with adolescents, young adults, and adults across multiple levels of care, including inpatient hospital settings, PHP/IOP programs, substance use treatment, and community-based mental health services. Throughout her career, she has worked with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, self-esteem concerns, emotional dysregulation, substance use disorders, family conflict, and life transitions.

Megan takes a warm, compassionate, and client-centered approach to therapy. She believes that meaningful therapeutic work begins with creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel genuinely heard, respected, and understood. Megan values the therapeutic relationship and works collaboratively with clients to help them identify strengths, increase self-awareness, and move toward meaningful and lasting change. Her therapeutic style is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and individualized to each client’s unique needs and goals. Megan incorporates techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered therapy.

Megan has experience facilitating both individual and group therapy, with a focus on psychoeducation, emotional processing, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and behavioral change. She particularly enjoys helping clients build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, strengthen self-compassion, and navigate difficult life experiences with greater confidence and resilience. Megan is committed to meeting clients where they are in their journey and believes therapy should feel collaborative, authentic, and empowering. She considers it a privilege to support clients as they work toward healing, growth, and improved emotional well-being.
