Hello! I’m Frank!

MSS, LCSW

Frank Gerlach is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over twenty-four years of experience in the behavioral health field. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Crime and Justice from Albright College and later obtained his Master of Social Service from Bryn Mawr College.

Frank began his career as a counselor at KidsPeace, working on a residential unit with adolescents experiencing complex mental health challenges, including trauma, abuse and neglect, severe family conflict, and behavioral disorders. His leadership led to a promotion as a unit supervisor before moving to the County of Lehigh, where he spent more than a decade in Child and Youth Services, supporting children and families while navigating the complexities of the court system and broader systems of care.

He went on to serve nine years as a lead worker and trainer in the Office of Crisis Intervention/988/Information and Referral, where he provided immediate support to individuals and families facing acute psychiatric and environmental crises. His work included responding with police and EMS to situations involving severe mental illness, including psychosis, as well as substance use disorders and family instability.

Frank also brings additional experience advocating for individuals in intricate organizational settings, strengthening his ability to help clients navigate conflict, communication challenges, and high-stress environments.

Frank’s clinical philosophy centers on empathy, respect, and understanding each person’s unique perspective. He believes meaningful progress is defined by the client and achieved through a collaborative, strengths-based approach. He utilizes an eclectic range of evidence-based modalities, including psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), couples and relationship therapy, and family systems therapy.

Frank works with individuals, couples, and families addressing trauma, relationship challenges, family dynamics, and the impacts of cycles of dysfunction and abuse. He also supports clients managing behavioral concerns, boundary and communication needs, and navigating life transitions.

Outside of his clinical work, Frank has a long-standing involvement in coaching high school football. His experience as both a player and coach has shaped his values of discipline, leadership, teamwork, and resilience—principles he integrates into his therapeutic approach.

Frank is committed to creating a supportive, collaborative space where clients feel understood and empowered to make meaningful, lasting change.
