Counselor Summary

Hello! I’m Samantha!

MSW, LSW

Samantha Snyder is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the state of Pennsylvania pursuing clinical licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Eastern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, and Summa Cum Laude from Marywood University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work.

Prior to becoming an outpatient therapist at BCA, Samantha most recently provided school-based therapy to adolescents ages 15-19. She enjoys working with adolescents ages 15 and up, along with young adults and adults. She comes to us with experience treating anxiety disorders, eating disorders/body image difficulties, young adult life transitions, and religious trauma. She is an LGBTQIA+ ally and is skilled in helping those in the community navigate non-affirming environments. She enjoys incorporating mind/body interventions and psychoeducation regarding how daily habits can influence mental health. Among these interests, her favorite clinical issues to treat are eating disorders/body image and religious trauma. She is committed to furthering her expertise in these areas and speaking about these topics in various capacities. She has been trained in the use of CBT-E for eating disorders and has developed a curriculum for a 6-week body image group for teens and young adults. She operates from a framework of intuitive eating and Health at Every Size (HAES). She has also presented at the Religious Trauma Conference held by the Global Center for Religious Research.

Samantha takes an eclectic approach to her work, meaning she incorporates techniques from various social work theories. She is skilled in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She takes on an attitude of openness and curiosity to provide a safe, comfortable, and nonjudgmental space for her clients to express their concerns. Finally, Samantha believes in the power of a positive therapeutic relationship between therapist and client, and values this as one of the most useful tools to motivate change in her clients’ lives.
