Ally Shellhammer
Ally Shellhammer (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. Ally began working in the mental health field after her graduation from Moravian College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. While working in direct care and eventually case management, Ally received her Master’s Degree from La Salle University in Professional Clinical Counseling. After completion of her internship at Northern Children’s Services in Manayunk, Ally started her counseling career at KidsPeace Residential Trauma-Specific Program working with adolescent females survivors of sex trafficking. Ally also has experience in the outpatient setting, working with children and adolescents diagnosed with a variety of behavioral and mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, and has worked with many individuals of the LGBTQAI+ population. She also has experience in the BHRS level of care, providing Behavior Specialist Consultation wrap-around services working with children diagnosed with Autism, intellectual disabilities, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. Ally has additionally worked in a Partial Hospitalization level of care as well as Emergency Department Psychiatric Case Management with individuals experiencing a variety of mental health crises.
Ally has attended an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Workshop to receive extensive training in ACT, has completed an ACT for Trauma training and focuses primarily on utilizing ACT concepts within her therapeutic work. Ally received weekly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training at the Center for Integrated Behavioral Health and additionally received certification in Functional Behavioral Assessment. She has experience utilizing Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction tactics in sessions to assist clients in accomplishing their treatment goals.
Ally works at Bethlehem Counseling Associates with the child, adolescent and adult population providing evidence-based, authentic, and genuine psychotherapy to a diverse population. Ally finds importance in assessment and collaboration to develop a working relationship between client, clinician, and family. Ally’s approach includes an empathic and emotionally validating environment for individuals to heal. She pulls from a variety of different empirically supported interventions to assist clients in their commited action towards a values-based life.
