Tara Smith, MA, LPC, CAADC
Counselor Summary
Hello! I’m Tara!
MA, LPC, CAADC
Tara feels that the bravest thing anyone can do is begin to understand their own story. She believes as your therapist, the primary goal is to help her clients take that first step in sorting out and make sense of their thoughts and feelings to cultivate personal growth. Tara’s engaging and genuine personality provides a relaxed and nonjudgmental safe space, for each client to feel empowered enough to cope with whatever life throws at them.
Tara is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Cedar Crest College where she majored in Criminal Justice and minored in Psychology, and her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Rosemont College.
Throughout her career, she has worked with a diverse population of clients ranging from 5 years old to senior citizens in both individual and group settings. Since shifting career goals 10 years ago Tara started her helping career in juvenile detention, then moving on to truancy case management, progressing to Family Based therapy, shifting into outpatient Co-Occurring treatment working with those struggling with opiate addiction, and most recently providing individual mental health therapy in an outpatient setting. While Tara’s therapeutic approach comes from an Existential and Cognitive Behavioral approach, she is quite mindful of every person’s individual needs, meeting them where they are at using an Integrative approach which allows for various therapeutic modalities to be used to best meet her client’s needs.
