Joel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who uses a client-centered approach, as well as, cognitive behavioral therapy in his work with clients. Joel focuses on the individual and their needs, strengths, and goals as they relate to coping and thriving in daily life. His approach is easy-going and empathic, yet straightforward. He places an emphasis on assisting clients with identifying patterns and feelings hindering growth, development and a more positive outlook. He believes in taking in each individual's "story" and fostering a positive rapport in allowing the therapeutic process to progress at each person's pace.
Joel has over 15 years of experience in the field of Clinical Social Work. He has experience in a variety of settings, and currently works as a Foster Parent Trainer & Educator and Therapist for children and parents in a community based program. He has experience facilitating anger management groups and as a Therapist in private practice working with adults, couples, and children managing challenges ranging from: anxiety; depression; bipolar disorder; marital and relationship challenges; social and daily life stresses. He has an interest in men's issues, particularly the use of cognitive behavioral therapy for weight loss, and in treating individuals experiencing relationship, marital and parenting challenges.
